Peace of Mind

As you consider dental implants, it’s important to understand exactly what’s involved and how this procedure can truly change your life. Your Life Long Dental team will walk you through the entire process and answer your questions along the way, making sure you’re completely comfortable from the minute you arrive at our center.

Is the procedure painful?

Dr. Gillespie does everything he can to make you as comfortable as possible. Depending on the procedure, you can elect to have a variety of pain management options. Afterwards, most of our patients report that they experienced far less pain than anticipated.

My teeth are in really bad shape. Am I still a candidate for dental implants?

In our experience, most people can safely receive dental implants. Even age is not necessarily a factor when determining dental implant placement. Whether you’re missing one tooth or many, dental implants may be the best choice for you. Plus, at Life Long Dental, Dr. Gillespie is experienced in treating patients with complex cases that may even have been turned away by others. The best way to find out if you’re a candidate is to visit us for a free consultation.

I don’t want people to know I have implants. Will my smile look like I have real teeth?

Believe it or not, dental implants actually become an integrated part of your mouth because they adhere to the jawbone, just like “real” teeth. You’ll be able to brush, floss, eat and smile as if you’d had these teeth your entire life. You can even work with our master lab technicians to determine the shape, color, and size of your teeth to make them look completely natural.

How long is the recovery period?

As you can imagine, this differs for every patient. Many patients say they don’t experience significant discomfort beyond swelling and don’t even need pain medication after the procedure. You will be on a soft food diet for a few weeks, which allows your implants to heal. After that, you’ll be able to enjoy all your favorite foods again.

Is the procedure expensive? Does Life Long Dental offer financing options?

Thanks to precise technology and our all-inclusive centers, the cost of dental implants is much less than it was even a few years ago. However, many of our patients still need financing options to help pay for the procedure. We work clo closely with leading healthcare financing companies to provide payment plans for our patients who qualify. During your consultation, our consultants can help figure out a financing strategy that fits your budget. Together, we’ll explore options available.

Can I bring someone with me for support?

Yes. In fact, we recommend that you bring family or a friend. They’ll help you feel more at ease before the procedure and afterwards, you’ll be able to show them the new you!

How long does the actual procedure take? Is it really all done in one day?

Yes, most of our patients walk into Life Long Dental in the morning and leave later that same day with a new smile. Here’s a basic idea of what happens during your procedure: Your doctor will sedate you, perform the implant procedure and then you’ll rest in our recovery room until the anesthesia fully wears off. The teeth you leave with are your temporary teeth that allow you to eat and enjoy your everyday life. Six months later, you’ll return to Life Long Dental and we’ll replace your temporary teeth with your new, permanent teeth.

Are Dental Implants Right For Me?

If you struggle with dental issues and can’t seem to find a solution that makes you happy, dental implants could be the right choice for you. Beyond the aesthetic appeal, many people find that the health benefits are an important factor when considering implants.

For example, did you know implants can help prevent bone loss in the jaw? The natural erosion of bone begins as soon as a tooth is lost, and if nothing is done, this may result in the loss of other teeth and could cause a “sunken” look in facial features. Dental implants integrate with the bone, providing a stimulus that keeps the jawbone from deteriorating. This helps maintain a more youthful facial structure, boosts confidence—and leads to better oral health.

Dental implants could help improve overall health, too. With strong, full functioning teeth, patients can expand their diets and eat healthier foods again, like nuts and fruits.

You also should take into account the longevity of implants. When properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them one of the best investments for long-term tooth replacement.

Of course, you can’t forget about some of the more common advantages of dental implants. Unlike dentures, they never slip or move—and you don’t have to use special cleaners and adhesives. Unlike fixed bridgework, dental implants don’t require adjacent healthy teeth to be filed down. And, there’s this fact to consider: studies have reported that the long-term success rate of implants is over 95%.*
